In a significant turn of events, the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has given the green light to five Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates, setting the stage for a compelling competition, notably featuring incarcerated activist Sanam Javed and her political rival, Maryam Nawaz.
The decision, announced on Friday, allows the PTI candidates, including Sanam Javed, Umer Aslam, Major (retd) Tahir Sadiq, and Shaukat Mahmood Basra, to actively participate in the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024, as reported by ARY News.
The approval came following the successful appeals by the PTI candidates against the rejection of their nomination papers by returning officers (ROs) from various constituencies. The division bench, composed of Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar, overturned the decisions made by the Lahore High Court (LHC) and the election tribunal, emphasizing the legitimacy of the PTI leaders’ nomination papers.
Notably, the Supreme Court’s directive to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is crucial, as it instructs the commission to publish and print the names of the PTI’s approved candidates directly onto the ballot boxes. This move ensures transparency and clarity for voters, allowing them to make informed choices during the upcoming elections.
Sanam Javed, a prominent figure in the PTI, has emerged as a key contender, gaining approval to contest polls from NA-119, NA-120, and PP-125. The inclusion of her name in these crucial constituencies amplifies the significance of her candidacy, as she prepares to compete in the political arena.
Similarly, Shaukat Mahmood Basra, another PTI candidate, has received the green light to contest from NA-163 (Bahawalnagar), enhancing the party’s presence in various regions.
The decision by the Supreme Court showcases the judiciary’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that political candidates are granted fair opportunities to participate in the electoral process. With the upcoming general elections just around the corner, the approved PTI candidates, including Sanam Javed, are set to face off against their opponents, adding an extra layer of excitement to the political landscape.
As the competition heats up, all eyes will be on Sanam Javed, who, despite facing legal challenges, has successfully secured approval to be part of the electoral race. The dynamics of the electoral battle will undoubtedly be shaped by the inclusion of these PTI candidates, with Sanam Javed’s participation adding a compelling narrative to the political story, particularly in the context of her competition with Maryam Nawaz.
We are cordially committed with PTI Imran Khan Zindabad people of Pakistan 🇵🇰 Zindabad.
